TOWER HILL
Towers Hill is a favourite exercise track for locals and early morning, you’ll see the wildlife residents.
REVISIT WARTIMES
You can also bring Charters Towers’ World War II history alive with a free augmented reality app at Towers Hill: thousands of soldiers were based in Charters Towers.
ZARA CLARK MUSEUM
Zara Clark Museum, run by the National Trust of Queensland, is a treasure trove of cultural heritage with displays and talks relating to the way of life now gone, with emphasis on the area’s agriculture and mining. The volunteers are passionate about history and their town and will love to share tales with you.
LEATHON PARK
This is cattle country. Visit Leahton Park, a working cattle property with a difference, just 10 kms from town. Visitors can take wagon tours to view their eye-catching Texas Longhorns.
You can’t have history without ghosts and there are plenty of great ghost stories in Charters Towers, along with storytelling opportunities at four venues as part of Charters Towers ghosts of gold heritage trails.
